Printing Resources

Georgia Tech provides printing services for all students, located in multiple buildings across campus. These printers can print both gray-scale and color, in junior legal (5" x 8"), letter (8.5" x 11"), legal (8.5" x 14"), and tabloid (11" x 17"). Students are given printing funds in their "My Print Center" account at the beginning of the semester (Fall: $33.00. Spring: $35.00. Summer: $27.00), which can be spent on printing grayscale ($0.04 per page) or color ($0.19 per page). This page deals with printing available in the East and West Architecture buildings.

Printing Software

To download the printing (or any) software onto your computer, you first need a Gatech VPN. If you are on eduroam wifi, then you'll have no issues. If you need to download software while off-campus, you can make use of the VPN.

  1. Go to the software page to download the printing software. Read the requirements, and click "Download Software."
  2. The first menu will require you to select the software type you need (windows, pc) and then select your affiliation (student, faculty).
  3. Look for OIT Laptop Printing Packages, and click "request software."
  4. Scroll to the gold button near the bottom of the page that says "proceed to download."
  5. Once the package has download, your system will guide you through the installation process.

Students can submit jobs by downloading the printer software or by uploading it to the print center.

My Print Center

If you can't download the printing software, you can always upload your files to My Print Center. The benefit of My Print Center is it doesn't require any downloading, but the trade off is that you're more limited in what you can upload. My Print Center also requires that users have a Gatech VPN to access the site.
To upload an item, click the "upload" button. Once your file is uploaded, you can select it and use the bottom panel to determine the print settings you want.

How to Print

The printing process is fairly simple. Find a printer, swipe your card, select the item you want to print, and viola— the digital becomes physical. Assuming all the pieces are working correctly, this should be all you need to do, but sometimes other things get in the way....

What To Do When Technology Fails You

Due to the frequency of use, school printers frequently run into technical issues. The school recommends printing at least the day before an assignment is due to ensure that you have time to deal with any issues that may arise, or find alternate printing methods. That said, if a printer does break, there are ways to fix them.
Typically, a printer will display an error message on the interface screen. If the issue is a paper jam or lack of paper, it can be easily solved. In case of a paper jam, the printer will indicate which drawer needs to be open. The operator should gently remove the paper to remove the jam. If the printer is out of paper, stock paper can be obtained from the plotter room. All other issues with the printer should be reported to OIT at helpdesk@cc.gatech.edu

Plotter Printers

If you need higher quality or larger size prints, there are plotter printers available for student use. They can print 36" or 42" wide and any length from a file on a thumb drive. Plotters have different paper than the regular printers, printing regular ($3 per foot), heavy ($5 per foot), and semi-gloss ($7 per foot). It is important to note that you cannot use print funds to print on the plotters. The plotters are on the third floor of Architecture West, in room 359A. There are also plotters in the library, which are open 24/7, on the 3rd floor, but this will only print on gloss photo paper.
