Undergraduate Admissions

Industrial Design at Georgia Tech starts from the same idea as every degree at the university: technology used to make a real-world impact. Here, Industrial Design students explore design beyond physical products, including services, systems, experiences, and emerging technologies, and they learn by making through a sequence of eight design studios, one each semester. Ours is the only industrial design degree program in the University System of Georgia.

The strongest applicants to our undergraduate program show they are part artist, part entrepreneur, and part engineer. That means challenging coursework in both art and STEM, activities where they've built, tested and improved their own ideas, and essays about a specific human problem they want to solve. Applicants who link their interests to the program's focus areas, such as health and accessibility, intelligent and interactive products, or innovation and manufacturing, show the purposeful fit Georgia Tech looks for. Admissions is looking for students who demonstrate intellectual curiosity and aren't afraid of a challenge!
