Student Advising
Students in Georgia Tech's School of Industrial Design have a dedicated academic advisor in their own school, in line with Georgia Tech's approach where all students work with advisors in their majors, rather than in a central advising office. Across undergraduate and graduate levels, academic advisors help students make the most of the School's research-driven environment, where students have opportunities to work with faculty, research laboratories, industry partners, communities, and collaborators across Georgia Tech. Together, they can shape a path that fits the student’s goals.
Undergraduate Academic Support
Undergraduates work with the Undergraduate Academic Advisor for course planning and registration, help understanding degree requirements and their academic program options, exploring study abroad, undergraduate research and co-ops & internships, and connecting with campus resources. Students considering a transfer into the BSID major should email the undergraduate academic advisor to schedule an appointment. Questions about the BSID curriculum go to the Undergraduate Program Coordinator.
Graduate Academic Support
Graduate students in the Master of Industrial Design (MID) and the MS-HCI Industrial Design track work with Graduate Academic Advisor for graduate advising and admissions questions. Because many graduate students come to industrial design from other fields, this advisor is often their first point of contact, from questions about the application through course planning and progress toward the degree.
Ph.D. Academic Support
Our newest degree program, the Ph.D. in Integrated Design and Computing is offered jointly by Georgia Tech's School of Industrial Design and School of Interactive Computing. The program combines design-based inquiry and advanced computational methods to investigate complex societal and technological challenges.
