Undergraduate

Hi! I'm a third year student at Georgia Tech studying Industrial Design. My strength is in connecting and understanding people. One of the things I'm most proud of is having facilitated a design thinking workshop in Davos, Switzerland in the past. My hope is to design a better future along with better puns and jokes I can tell!

Nexxspan Headwall Project

Nexxspan Headwall Project

Teammates:  Ashton Turner, Eric Werner
Class:  ID3032 | Instructor: Wendell Wilson

Project Objective: Our project objective is to design an invisibility cloak for Nexxspan’s headwall when the headwall is no longer in use. The final design solution must accommodate the needs of behavioral health patients, end of life patients, and medical professionals; additionally, it should promote a healing environment and soften the headwall’s clinical look. The final solution must also accommodate both of the company’s headwall systems.

Project Overview: Existing hospitals are not designed to accomodate the needs of behavioral health and end-of-life patients. Most require increased length of stays, special safety needs and unique non-clinical environments for substantiated care. The FGI is just beginning to address these spaces, but the gas requirements and headwall products have not evolved at the same pace to address the environ-ment standards. The Nexxspan Headwall systems provide clinical care to a broad range of high acuity areas, the both systems are not designed to “disappear” when their gas distribution services are no longer needed.

Problem Statement: There is not a current maintainable solution to covering the headwall when it’s not in use. In a behavioral health or end-of-life patient scenario, the headwall is either left completely uncovered, partially covered, or covered by a temporary screen. Unfortunately, all of these “solutions” can result in patients interacting with the headwall, harming themselves, and disrupting medical professionals’ work.

Card Holder

Card Holder

Instructor: Percy Hooper

Project Scope: Observe and identify frustrations people have throughout their every day lives.
Problem Identified: Users experience frustration when they attempt to get their identification cards out of their wallets or card-holders.
Goal: To create a secure, easy-to-use card holder that allows users to quickly access their cards when needed.

Wellness Product

Wellness Product

Class: ID 2024  |  Instructor: Herb Velazquez

Project Description: To design a consumer wellness product for 2025 that encourages and trains users to care about their physical and mental health through the use of relaxation therapy in order to prevent possible future back pain, specifically in the trapezius.

Outcome: A playful device designed for a college student that includes sensors in the ears which can be placed on the back. When muscle tightness is sensed through the use of surface electromyography sensors the LEDS inside of the device change from green to red, alerting the user of their physical state. The user then can use one of the 3 exercises pre-programmed into the device to destress. This device overall helps them to become more aware of their physical and mental states.

The Nest

Class: ID 2024  |  Instructor: Herb Velazquez

Project Description: To design a metal floor lamp that has physical beauty when off and celebrates the beauty of light when on all while promoting an environment users can read or work in.

The Outcome: The creating of "The Nest," which features warm and soft lighting and a seating area where users can sit and rest their backs on while reading or working.
