To me, the ideal designer is one that takes extraordinary measures to understand the problem space, target users, and the technical means to make the chosen solution a reality. That ideal is what pushed me to take on the challenge of majoring in Industrial Design and Mechanical Engineering. I've always been a student that takes feedback seriously and one to ask for clarifications without hesitation. The desire to understand past shortcomings instead of merely burying it in the past is the most crucial trait for any young professional wanting to make the most out of their career experiences, and that is the attitude I bring with me in my classes and work experiences.

Shield

Shield

Class: ID 2024 | Instructor: Kimberly Snyder

“With the shift to remote work, privacy has taken on an added dimension: colleagues intruding on your home life and family intruding on your work life.” (The Wall Street Journal)

Working in an open space that contains personal belongings and shared with other family members risks leaking personal information via meeting calls—photographs can reveal the identities of your family members, packages and letters can leak your home address, books can be telling of your hobbies, etc. This creates a unprofessional meeting environment but also risks personal data being obtained by “Zoom-bombing” intruders or hackers. As a solution, I've created Shield—a compact extendable barrier that creates a separation between your personal life and your work life at home by acting as a neutral background and/or cubicle during video calls, and can also prevent family members from accidentally seeing confidential company information. It functions as a neutral background, partition, or a modular cubicle that can change from opaque to transparent using smart glass technology activated via bluetooth.

Class: ID 2023 | Instructor: Kimberly Snyder

Build-A-Burger! is a set of competitive games that challenges visual and verbal sequential memorisation under pressure. It is suitable for ages six and up, and is meant for the whole family to create a more engaging experience between children, older siblings, and parents. There are a total of four different games that can be played with the game set, and different levels of cards can be used to accommodate for players with different memory abilities and encourage players to challenge themselves as their sequential memory improves.

Timeless

Timeless

Solo Project

"Timeless" is a personal project I took on to get a head start in SolidWorks. The outcome is a logo design and coffee dripper inspired by the hourglass. The design uses the timeless materials of ceramic, maple wood, and glass. The double-walled glass coffee jug was the most challenging component to model, but adds a dimension of functionality to the design.
