KC Westbrook

Undergraduate

My name is KC Westbrook, and I am a third year Industrial Design student at Georgia Tech with a minor in German. I am heavily inspired by design from around the world, mainly Europe. I think design should be useful, beautiful, and improve people's lives. I enjoy crafting products, illustration, and graphic design. I am very intrinsically motivated and I enjoy learning new things which makes me a good worker and leader, and an asset to any design team.

Chanel Design Language Projet

Chanel Design Language Projet

Teammate:  Elizabeth Williamson
Class: ID 3041  |  Instructor: Samuel Harris

The purpose of this project was to design and develop a writing utensil in the language of an existing brand. The brand my teammate and I chose to design for was Chanel. Our inspiration for the design came from the Chanel 2.55 Handbag, as shown in the quilted leather fabric of the fountain pen and gold accents. The fountain pen also features classic Chanel design elements, such as the "CC" logo, pearls, and a houndstooth pattern on the feed.

Buropod

Buropod

Class: ID 3041  |  Instructor: Samuel Harris

The purpose of this project was to design a variable product system for the home. I created Buropod, a modular home office pod system. Buropod was designed to provide a quiet, private work space for people working from home. The system is made of three elements: a door, a roof, and a solid sound dampening panel. The user can customize the shape of the pod to suit their space.

MOMO Car Project

MOMO Car Project

Class: ID 3041  |  Instructor: Samuel Harris

The purpose of this project was to design a car wheel for MOMO and to create a Hot Wheels version of the full-scale car wheel. This project was a fantastic experience not only because we were able to work with an existing company but also because we received guidance and feedback from a lead designer at MOMO throughout the entire design process.

Skala

Class: ID 2024 |  Instructor: Lisa Marks

Skala is a smart food scale designed for bodybuilders. Simple but useful, Skala displays the weight, calories, and macronutrients of food being weighed. To find the nutritional profile of the food being weighed, a user can either search the food or scan a barcode for the food item all on the device itself. Skala includes features such as a touchscreen interface and is Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled.

Class: ID 2510 |  Instructors: Sang-Won Leigh, Yaling Liu, Wei Wang

Gisevii is a smart product that lets home kombucha brewers know when their kombucha is done fermenting by detecting the alcohol content in their brew. The gas sensor in the device sits on the inside lip of a jar and detects the ethyl alcohol content in the kombucha during the first fermentation process. A NeoPixel ring turns white when the device is on, blue during fermentation, and red when fermentation is complete. An LCD display screen displays a different icon to match the NeoPixel ring color. The neck of the device pivots so that it can rest on the body of a variety of vessels used for fermenting kombucha.

Book Lamp

Book Lamp

Class: 2024 |  Instructor: Lisa Marks

The Book Lamp is a reading lamp meant to provide a dim light in a room for readers. The lamp itself is made of steel and baltic birch wood, and is inspired from the form of an open book- the wooden slats are the pages and the steel frame is the cover.
