Undergraduate

I am a second-year Industrial Design student and track & field athlete at Georgia Tech. I love to connect with people through design and find creative solutions with the user in mind. Much of my work thus far has been inspired by my interest in emotional design and my own experiences as a college athlete.

VIOGUARD

VIOGUARD

Class: Sophomore Studio  |  Instructor: Kimberly Snyder

College athletes are at a high risk of skin infections and the spread of harmful bacteria due to shared spaces and the constant re-use of equipment. These problems arise due to a lack of hygiene and gear sanitation within the sport, and not only account for a large portion of time-loss injuries, but negatively affect the athlete’s overall wellness. VIOGUARD is a sports locker that uses UV-C light to disinfect athletic gear between each use. Exposure to the UV-C treatment kills harmful bacteria found on the surface and interior of helmets, pads, gloves, and any other equipment used on a daily basis, keeping the athlete healthy and ready to compete.

Spectrum is a clip-on UV sensor that allows athletes to keep track of their daily sun exposure. UV radiation from the sun is the number-one cause of skin cancer such as melanoma and carcinoma, and skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. Additionally, UV exposure is the reason behind 80% of your skin’s visible aging. Intended for athletes who train for hours in the sun’s harmful rays, it clips to clothing and indicates the UV index at that time. This allows the user to recognize how much SPF to apply, when they should go inside, and what type of clothing to wear based on UV levels.

Ardea

Ardea

Class: Sophomore Studio  |  Instructor: Kimberly Snyder

Ardea is a floor lamp designed to fit within a clean and relaxed living space. Its natural and industrial features, along with its open form, allow it to rest lightly within a space despite its tall stature. The exposed lighting cable travels through the form to an Edison bulb, which casts warm light through a linen shade.

This lamp is intended to arch over a couch or armchair, and the length of the cord can be adjusted to your preference.
