Function first, solve the problem. Fix an issue and improve the experience by building something. But also – good design is always doing what you love and improving upon your own experiences.

StreamCast

This was a project to create a line of products which allow for live streaming of video content from anywhere. The primary goal of this project is to look at the home as a broadcast space, and to explore how these permanent broadcast setups that exist now could be minimized and made simpler, as well as portable/removable when desired. StreamCast enables anyone to connect these cameras to the device and application of their choosing, to then stream video live to the public or friends, or record video for later use. This project was based off the current need for a more customizable home broadcast space, while all of us are stuck at home for both work and play.

StreamCast Ideation

Project Process Book

While creating StreamCast, the original goal was never to create a product which improved the broadcast experience within the home. The first ideas produced all pertained to improving one’s livelihood through the kitchen space, however by exploring current trends and researching personal issues plaguing the current climate, this project focus was chosen. Look at my process book for deeper insight into my thoughts throughout this semester, and how I ended up with StreamCast as it looks today.

About Me

Ben Hammer

Hi there! My name is Ben! I am a design student from Decatur, Georgia, and I am a product focused designer, with a love for model making and computer aided design (CAD.) I appreciate the design process as a whole and getting to spend time to fully flesh out all possible solutions through needfinding and research. I recently returned from an exchange semester in Lund, Sweden, where I learned more about myself as a designer, and how to view every problem through many different lenses.
