John White

Professor of Practice, School of Industrial Design

John White is a Professor of Practice in the School of Industrial Design at Georgia Institute of Technology, where he has been teaching graduate design studio courses since 2015. With over 20 years of experience as a design leader, White has a rich background in innovation and design programs across various sectors, including medical, consumer electronics, and housewares. His expertise spans industrial design, research and strategy, user experience, visual brand language, and conceptual design. 

White's educational background includes a Master of Science in Industrial Design with a focus on human-centered methods from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, and a BA in Advertising with a marketing minor from Temple University, Philadelphia. He has also completed specialized courses in design strategy at Domus Academy in Milan and brand strategy at Art Center College of Design in New York. Prior to his role at Georgia Tech, White taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2005-2015) and Philadelphia University (2002-2004). His professional specialties include 3D modeling and visualization, as well as recruiting, mentoring, and developing staff. Throughout his career, White has focused on planning and executing research, discovery, and experience activities, ensuring that insights are actionable in design and development processes.
