Biography:

As a Lecturer in the School of Industrial Design at Georgia Tech, Kevin Brown plays a key role in shaping a futures-focused curriculum that equips emerging designers with practical, industry-relevant skills. In this role, he emphasizes the integration of advanced digital design tools into the design process, preparing students to navigate the growing convergence of digital workflows and physical product development. His teaching focuses on 3D modeling, product visualization, rapid digital prototyping, computational design, and the use of AI tools to support concept development.

Kevin brings nearly a decade of professional design experience to the classroom. As a design consultant, he has led development efforts for a wide range of consumer and industrial products, helping clients translate ideas into manufacturable solutions. His work spans companies such as Quikrete, Hunter Fan, Ratio Product Labs, and Platform Product Design, and includes involvement at every stage of product development, from early ideation to functional prototypes and final engineered solutions ready for manufacturing.

His design work has earned international recognition, including honors from the European Product Design Awards and the LIT Awards for his Bloom Lamp and VINE modular lighting system. He also holds multiple U.S. and international utility and design patents. 

Teaching Interest:

His teaching focuses on the application of digital tools to support concept development, refinement, and communication. He is committed to hands-on, project-based instruction that mirrors industry workflows and equips students with the technical fluency required for contemporary Industrial design practice.

Research Interest:

Kevin’s work centers on digital design methodologies in industrial design, with particular interest in parametric and computational modeling, AI-assisted design processes, and rapid prototyping and advanced fabrication.
