Biography

Yaling Liu holds an MFA in Fashion Design from the Domus Academy in Milan. She approaches industrial design using a rigorous fashion-based methodology. Her expertise in soft materials, trend forecasting, and brand analysis brings a strong user-centered perspective to her teaching.

Yaling has taught product design studios in China, Hong Kong, and the USA. She is currently a visiting professor in industrial design at Georgia Tech, where she teaches Year 1 studio, Intro to Smart Product, and Soft Product Design.

Statement of Teaching Interest

My teaching interests are strongly aligned with the core principles of the Soft Goods Design course, which emphasizes exploring product opportunities by leveraging soft, sustainable materials to create benefits for both users and the environment, while also integrating relevant social trends.
