Yaling Liu holds an MFA in Fashion Design from the Domus Academy in Milan. She approaches industrial design using a rigorous fashion-based methodology. Her expertise in soft materials, trend forecasting, and brand analysis brings a strong user-centered perspective to her teaching.

Yaling has taught product design studios in China, Hong Kong, and the USA. She is currently a visiting professor in industrial design at Georgia Tech, where she teaches Year 1 studio, Intro to Smart Product, and Soft Product Design.
