The Pima Lamp

The Pima Lamp

Class: ID 2024 | Instructor: Steve Chininis

The Pima Lamp is a lamp meant to light a stage for a band to perform on. As such, its legs are held in with removable pegs, making the lamp collapsible. The Pima Lamp shoots a revolving disco light onto the stretched fabric frame as well as the walls, floor, and ceiling to create a fun, vivid, rotating effect that is perfect for funk, R&B, soul, and psychedlic rock and rap concerts. Film can then be attached with the included clip to project bands’ logos and imagery onto the front. Its form is informed by the design language of guitars from the 60s and 70s. The lamp is meant to match instruments on stage without the audience being able to pinpoint exactly why. Therefore, It should be manufactured in a variety of colors to correctly match all applicable bands’ branding.

Scallywag Shuffle

Scallywag Shuffle

Class: ID 1011 | Instructor: Steve Chininis

Scallywag Shuffle is a matching game meant to build upon the cognitive abilities of 4-to-5-year-olds. The process of finding a match is intended to illustrate the cause-effect relationship between air-propulsion and movement as well as to promote physical activity. Scalywag Shuffle is based around a rolling sailboat toy and a simple, handheld fan as well as three islands meant to hold 9 cards each, a “START” island that is meant to be used as a home base for the sail boat.To move the boat simply swipe the fan back and forth horizontally behind the sail. To play the game: Start with your boat on the “START” island and blow it to the card island of your choosing. Once you get there, pick a card and clip it onto the front of the sail boat. Then, blow the boat back to the “START” island. Get ready for the next turn! A match of 3 of the same image wins!
