Dylan Fealtman

Undergraduate

Dylan Fealtman is a fourth year industrial design student at The Georgia Institute of Technology. While he currently studies in Atlanta, he is a San Francisco Bay Area native.

Dylan believe's design can add value to the world by generating radical responses through intriguing form and materiality that benefit both the user and the environment. A few of his favorite things are black coffee, light beer, medium-sized dogs.

During the spring of 2020, he interned at Layer Design, a studio located in London that specialized in traditional product design, brand design, and user experience. Working closely with the team allowed him to gain valuable feedback and grow his design skills, as well as push his passion of combining industrial design with user experience.

Teammates:  Lilli Gluck
Class:  ID 4071 | Instructor: Herb Velazquez

Pluto is a sustainable drip coffee machine designed to be repairable, cleanable, and reusable so that it fits perfectly into a circular economy.

This project had a core focus on sustainability, and looked into redesigning the drip coffee maker from the ground up. While this was a traditional design project, my team member and I also created a brand for the coffee maker named Pluto. Pluto Kitchen is dedicated to designing appliances for a healthier planet.

Wave Catcher is a two-piece watch and camera system targeted at both beginner water-sport enthusiasts, as well as advanced riders. The camera autonomously tracks the watch, freeing up the need for a photographer and allowing passengers to be present. The accelerometer and gyroscope in the watch also allow for the collection of key statistics that help advanced riders improve their runs, faster.
