The Butterfly Lamp
Class: ID 2024 | Instructor: Steve Chininis
The butterfly lamp is for business who want to create a sophisticated environment to host their clients. The entire 6’ tall body is made from 6061 aluminum and milled to .001” tolerance. The form is inspired by the bumbling grace of a butterfly in wind. As of today's date, 70% of the lamp is completed. For this project, I opted to machine the 51 aluminum parts myself on a CNC router. I plan on completing the lamp during the Summer of 2020.
The Student Organizer
Class: ID 2024 | Instructor: Steve Chininis
The Student Organizer is designed for students to organize their time in a visual and tangible way. Using the provided colored dry erase markers and the semester long calendar on the right side of the board, students can plan their time in a familiar, linear fashion. By using the other half of the board, students can make sense of the tasks they are presented by categorizing them into an Eisenhower matrix. This forces them to consider time, importance, and urgency when planning on what to do at a specific time. The board uses sticky notes, a thumb tack board, and threaded inserts for organizing activities on the left side of the board. The organizer is intended to be mounted in a dorm room and serve as a constant reminder of upcoming tasks.
