Stages of Living focuses on the concept of transitions and the idea that your home can adjust itself to your mindset of private, preparation, and presentation. We explore transitions not just as a means to an end, but as an experience in and of itself. The user enters the space from the middle floor and then choose to either descend through a grand living room on to a large balcony or ascend up to a private bedroom wing. This allows one to transition from a presentation place to a private place. The user has visuals throughout the space, but the space is provided with some differentiation through a spine of furniture. The spine is a visually connecting element throughout the space that helps to declutter one's life. In addition, the space has two large balconies on either end. Each balcony holds an exterior screen that helps to filter one's relation to the environment through a series of movements. Each movement performed by the shading system allows one to have a more comfortable experience on the balcony and throughout the apartment. Overall, the apartment allows for the visual integration of space, light, and air through a direct design of floors, furniture, and shading screens. This project was presented to Shiseido representatives biweekly for an iterative and collaborative process with the goal to present a non-transactional brand living space to showcase the Ultimune product for its upcoming campaign in the Changi Airport. Utilizing new technologies, we created a highly relevant and interactive environment to drive interesting and meaningful experience worthy of viral awareness. To fully augment the campaign’s spirit, online-to-offline activities were designed to create the Shiseido experience.
