Computing Labs

For student convenience, the school of industrial design has two computer labs open 24/7 for student use. They are located in West Architecture 358 & 359 (the third floor, near the printers and the plotter room). Graduate students are also able to access computers with in the graduate studio. These computers require a Gatech login and connect to your digital account, this allows you to access your digital files regardless of whether or not you use the same computer. Each computer is equipped with several applications:

  • Adobe Suite
  • Autodesk Suite
  • Keyshot
  • Meshmixer
  • Rhino
  • Solidworks

  • Tablets
  • Laptops
  • Microphones
  • Cameras
  • Connecting cords
  • Calculators
  • SD cards
  • Chargers
  • Headphones
  • Adaptors

Some items, such as cords and chargers, can be instantly picked up, but more expensive items like cameras and tablets will require a reservation 48 hours in advance. All items have a check-out time limit, which is typically either four hours, but it depends on the item.

Interactive Product Design Lab

The interactive product design lab, or the IPDL, is a research lab dedicated to teaching and studying interactive products. Located on the second floor of Architecture West, the IPDL provides students the tools and access to investigate, explore, and experiment with an extensive array of new technologies. The vast majority of School of Industrial Design physical resources and tools are found in this lab. The lab meets regularly. Check their schedule to see meeting times as well as other events.
